STALLED CHURCH BUILDING

Stalled Church StructureStalled Church StructureFive months now this structure which we started through the gracious gift of Our Brother Mark Wilson has stalled. Our services are constantly interrupted by heavy winds, rainfall and at times scotching heat from direct sunlight.

The mothers, who are our target in these services cannot attend for fear of their children. The Youths of this village are not willing to participate in sunday worship due to its exposure. My heart grieves over this project. This month i prayed to God and i told him ” Lord, it is your project not mine”.

I am constantly appealing to any brother or sister who feels blessed today to pray about giving towards the construction of this house of God. Our desire to have evenning meetings are thwarted by this.

Contact me if you are willing to help. God Bless You

4WD TRUCK

ORUCHO HILLS CHURCHORUCHO HILLS CHURCHOur next area of concern is transport and travelling crisis. It includes also communication. The remoteness of this area makes it very difficult to move without a 4wd truck. Our are of service covers 130 km sq.

The availability of a truck makes it easy to do the following.

1. Evangelisms and awareness campaigns

2. Response to emergencies such us child delivery, domestic accidents etc

3. Funeral Service. This can be an income generating. Transportation of bodies from mortuary to the rural home.

4. Serving the old and the aged in terms of bringing Water, relief food and hospitalization.

5. Transportation of Building materials.

etc.

SCHOOL FEES

We have managed to identify over 150 serious orphans aged 3 to 8 years who cannot go to Early Childhood Development Centres (ECD). Though they are living with their guardians mostly grandmothers, they need very urgent attention to help take them to schhol, provide nutrition and clothing. That is estimated to take $50 per month on every child excluding medication.

My greatest humble appeal to you is “PLEASE SPONSOR ONE CHILD”.

CLEAN WATER STORAGE TANK

1. CLEAN WATER STORAGE TANK The greatest problem in this village is clean drinking water. The nearest clean Drinking water is available 8km away down hill. The expectant mothers, the sick, the aged and the old cannot easily access this water and as a result continue to use contaminated water. Here, a water swamp is shared by domestic, wild animals and human beings a like. During rainy seasons, water can be stored in storage (septic) tanks which can last for the whole year depending on the size of the tank. It is in this regard that i am appealing personally to you, my reader, to kindly join hands with me and donate or help fund a water tank.

Water is Life !

2. POWER GENERATOR

This is our second problem. Nearly all members in this village can be found free only at night, evennings. During day time, it is water search spree while the rest look after animals and others to market centres in search of food and children gone to school.

It is very easy to meet these people at night to evangelize, teach, train , counsel, etc. And this can work if we have a power generator.

One small generator costs here $1000. Depending now on what the Lord can offer.

TESTIMONIALS

1. SALOME              AGE: 38

She is not a teen. She has been married nine times and in all her marriages, child barennes is the cause. I mean she cannt give birth to a child.

In her last marriage two years ago, she was kicked out of her house by all the family members of the inlaws, all her things were thrown away.

In this culture, barenness is bad luck and bad omen to the society. Such a woman must be kicked out disgracefully and the husband undergoes rituals to cleanse himself then is remarried to another one.

When she narrated to me her story over and over, i cried with her. I took her to a girl’s domestic training school where she has been learning Tailoring , Dressmaking, Health Care, Business Education and Health Science.

She is in her final year now but unfortunately, we cannot afford her fees now. She was sent back home and has been there at home for the last three months. If you are willing to give a hand in this , it is $1450 for her to complete. We would also like to buy for her a sewing machine in which she can start living a single life with. That cost $359. With this we are confident she can take care of her old mother and her brothers two sons . Her brother died of Aids Ten Years ago.

I will be glad if you pray with me in this issue. When we took her to the college, her people did not well come that. They are now mistreating her and that could lead her back to the street life of prostitution.

WIFE INHERITANCE

After the death of the husband (from any cause including AIDS), culture takes root immediately. The widow is regarded unclean and is not supposed to visit any home, market, garden etc until when she is inherited. If she enters a church, the other women will walk out and leave her a lone. On the day of inheritance, she is given  a man of the elder’s choice. She is not supposed to comment. They are locked inside to play sex. It is the initial sex play after the burial that cleanses the woman. She is now supposed to stay with this man as her keeper while all the children will be regarded as that of the dead husband. The woman is supposed to clothe, feed and maintain this man. The man can in turn run away due to poor maintenance. The greatest ignored danger here is the spread of Aids virus through this system. As a result of this practice, several homes are closed down. The man is infected and goes over to infect his matrimonial wife and the circle continues. The role of the Church in this issue is well defined in the bible. Once we get a place to gather, we will bomb this practice to its shell ! The women have continuosly expressed disatisfication of this practice but they can not come out of it for fear of marginalization.

Mark Robert Wilson

It is just important for us to remember this man of God. We havent seen each other but believes that very soon we will come to each other face to face.

Our members here have been worshipping in an open air makeshift tent for the last four months. It was terrible. Because it was during rainy season, it really rained on women and children. Several of our services were disrupted by continuous rainfall.

The number of attendants reduced drastically. Then out of a big surprise, Mark Robert Wilson sent us aus $ 1000 which is equivalent to Ksh. 55,000/-. He told us “It is your money, you can use it”. Our church quickly found the need to start a foundational structure for a 250 to 500 member capacity church foundation. With that help we have made a good structure. In the structure are two wings. One wing on the right can be used as church office while the other on the left can be used as an early Childhood Development class.

We are proud of it. We are now remaining only with the roofing and it will be complete. We have worked on the cost to be $2359. We accepts all deposits or installments or denominations. Junk by junk we will succeed.

Once completed, the building will be used for the preached word. It will be both a restoration centre and a rehabilitation centre. It will be used for bible study and the vast field around it can be used for recreational activities. This place must be delivered from their harmful deep rooted culture in Wife Inheritance which helps the spread of Aids in this village at a higher rate. Most homes here are empty due to the dreaded aids. Nowonder, 98% of our church congregation comprises of widows and orphans.

Their culture of POLYGAMOUS marriage with not a single property for sustainance. Polygamy is practiced here only on the sense that a husband can receive food from any of the wives. A wife who do not get her own food is neglected by the husband and the husband refuses to sleep in her house ! Ghosh !

The culture of girl Child frustration. A girl in this community is a property which when sold, brings wealth in the form of dowry. And as such no education is required for her. It is the male child who is educated using the dowry from the girl child.

This house once completed will give hope to the already half of the population of the abused girls children in this village. We can offer then vocational training in Tailoring and Dressmaking, Cookery, Health Science and Business Education. The combination of these subjects give the girl child a rich inheritance and self reliability in their early marriages ! This research is proven and has worked in anumber of villages far away from us.

We will have a chance to address different kinds of assaults to women , children and more seriously the neglect and abandonment of the Aged and the Old. We will have a good centre of Youth Information. Early Sex and careless love is a giant ghost in this village coupled with uprising of alcoholism and drug addiction. True Love Wits is our Motto while dealing with such vices.

NB

It is my humble request to Mark Robert Wilson that may God use you mightily to help us finish this noble idea. May God bless you and your works.

If you feel blessed to share with us in this noble idea, Kindly contact me as soon as you can. The spread of the Gospel can be made easy through your concern. And if you feel like visiting this bush to see for yourself, then kindly arrange. We do not even need a notification, you can come anytime.

It was by miracle that mark was interrested to work in the middle East but God is purposely preparing him even by using Orucho Hills Centre and an Orphanage in Zimbabwe. In his blog, i read in one paragraph in his last post that his friends are telling him to be a social worker, I join the list of his friends too. He is so busy, he cannt communicate to us often but we understand all that.

God Bless
